VRF Air Conditioning in Mayfair & Central London

VRF air conditioning provides heating and cooling across multiple areas using connected indoor units and a shared refrigerant system. It can be considered for offices, commercial premises and other buildings with several rooms or zones to manage.

SYS Maintenance provides air conditioning installation, servicing and repair support across Mayfair and Central London. Contact us to discuss a proposed multi-zone installation, replacement equipment or maintenance for an existing system.

Unlike the choice between wall-mounted and cassette indoor units, VRV/VRF describes the wider system arrangement. A project may use different compatible indoor-unit styles to suit individual spaces. Equipment selection, controls and installation routes need to be considered together so the proposed system matches how the building is used.

Our VRV / VRF Air Conditioning Services

SYS Maintenance supports air conditioning installation, servicing, repairs and planned maintenance. For VRV/VRF enquiries, provide the building location, equipment details and a description of the work required so we can discuss the project scope.

For existing installations, useful information includes the manufacturer, model numbers, affected areas and any controller fault messages. For new projects, floor plans, occupancy patterns and proposed equipment locations can help explain the requirements before further assessment.

A VRF air conditioning project needs coordinated planning across the building. The scope should address equipment locations, connecting services, electrical requirements, controls and access for maintenance.

For occupied premises, also discuss working hours, access restrictions and any areas that must remain operational. Existing equipment should be assessed before assuming that pipework, controls or indoor units can be retained during a replacement.

Planning Your VRF Air Conditioning System

A multi-zone installation should reflect how the property operates throughout the day. We discuss the areas involved, existing equipment and project priorities before the proposed work is defined.

1. Understand the Building

Identify which rooms need heating or cooling, their operating hours and any recurring comfort problems. Share available drawings and equipment records to help establish what needs assessment.

2. Define the System & Scope

Discuss indoor-unit arrangements, controls and installation routes. Clarify whether simultaneous heating and cooling is required, and confirm the proposed equipment, associated works and maintenance access within the quotation.

3. Installation, Commissioning & Handover

Installation is followed by the relevant checks and commissioning. Handover should cover operating controls, schedules, system documentation and the maintenance requirements for the equipment installed.

VRV / VRF Air Conditioning FAQs

What is the difference between VRV and VRF?

VRF stands for Variable Refrigerant Flow. VRV stands for Variable Refrigerant Volume and is Daikin’s name for its technology in this category. The terms describe a system approach, while the specific capabilities depend on the manufacturer, model and configuration.

Is VRF air conditioning the same as a multi-split system?

Both can connect multiple indoor units to shared outdoor equipment, but they are different equipment categories with their own design rules and capabilities. The appropriate choice depends on the building’s requirements, the number of areas involved and the level of control needed.

Can different rooms heat and cool at the same time?

A suitable heat-recovery system can support simultaneous heating and cooling in different areas. Standard heat-pump arrangements have operating-mode restrictions. Make this requirement clear during planning so the appropriate configuration can be considered.

Can the system use different indoor-unit styles?

Compatible ranges may offer cassettes, concealed ducted units and wall-mounted options. The combinations must be checked against the selected system. Appearance, room layout, capacity and maintenance access all influence which indoor units are appropriate.

Does the system provide fresh air?

Do not assume that temperature control also provides fresh-air ventilation. Ventilation requirements need separate consideration, although compatible ventilation equipment may be integrated into a wider building-services design. Discuss both needs when planning the project.

Can existing equipment be reused during an upgrade?

Possibly, but compatibility and condition must be assessed. Existing pipework, controls and indoor units are not automatically suitable for new equipment. A replacement proposal should identify what can remain and what needs changing.
